Cornerback Johnson agrees to one-year deal

SANTA CLARA, CALIF.

The San Francisco 49ers have signed cornerback Dontae Johnson to a one-year deal and waived linebacker Pita Taumoepenu.

The 49ers also released Anthony Davis from the retired list on Tuesday. The 2010 first-round pick last played in the NFL in 2016 when he suited up for one game.

Johnson spent four years with San Francisco after being drafted in the fourth round in 2014. He played in 63 games with 149 tackles, 21 passes defensed and two interceptions returned for touchdowns. He spent time with Seattle, Buffalo and Arizona last year but didn’t play. He signed with Kansas City in February but was released last month.

Taumoepenu was a sixth-round pick in 2017 and has played two games in his career.

OAKLAND RAIDERS

OT Incognito signs one-year contract

ALAMEDA, CALIF.

The Oakland Raiders have agreed to a one-year deal with troubled guard Richie Incognito.

A person familiar with the deal tells The Associated Press the two sides came to the agreement after a few weeks of discussion. The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity Tuesday because the signing has not been announced. NFL Network first reported the deal.

The 35-year-old Incognito has played 11 years in the NFL, making the Pro Bowl four times. He immediately becomes the leading contender to start at left guard in Oakland.

But he has also been suspended for bullying former Miami teammate Jonathan Martin, allegedly made racist slurs to an opponent during a playoff game in January 2018 and has had two run-ins with police since he retired following the 2017 season.

Incognito pleaded guilty last month to disorderly conduct in Scottsdale, Ariz., after being accused of threatening employees at a funeral home where his father’s body was being held.

Incognito could face suspension from the NFL over those incidents.

Foles will miss OTAs for ‘personal reason’

JACKSONVILLE, FLA.

Quarterback Nick Foles is skipping organized team activities for what the club called “a personal reason.”

Coach Doug Marrone said “our thoughts and prayers are with Nick and his family.” Marrone offered no other details, and the team said Tuesday there is no timetable for Foles’ return.

“He knows, like anything else, that we’re here for him,” Marrone said. “The football part, we’ll just figure that out. ... My mind is on more so of what’s going on on the outside, making sure I’m doing the best job I can for the player.”

Foles led the Philadelphia Eagles to four playoff victories over the last two seasons, including the franchise’s first NFL title since 1960. He earned 2018 Super Bowl MVP honors and made himself the league’s premier quarterback commodity.

Watt engaged to pro soccer player Ohai

HOUSTON

Houston Texans star J.J. Watt is engaged to his girlfriend, professional soccer player Kealia Ohai.

Both tweeted word of their engagement Sunday with photos showing Watt down on one knee before Ohai along a waterfront and rocky coast with a beautiful sunset.

Watt, the three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year, tweeted , “I’m the luckiest man in the world” and “(hash)SheSaidYes.”

Ohai tweeted : “I love you.”

She plays for the Houston Dash.

Watt, a college standout at Wisconsin, helped raise tens of millions of dollars for storm relief after Hurricane Harvey struck Texas in 2017. Watt’s online fundraiser, with an original goal of $200,000, led to a surge of donations and his foundation distributing at least $41.6 million to help rebuild the Texas Gulf Coast.
