Butler museum unveils winners of national show

YOUNGSTOWN

The National Midyear Exhibition opens today at the Butler Institute of American Art and will remain on view until July 28.

The annual curated show, now in its 89th year, received 652 submissions from 260 artists from across the country.

The judges – painter Sherry Giryotas and sculptor Phillip Shore, both of Dallas – selected 78 works from 64 artists from 14 states for inclusion.

The Butler museum, 524 Wick Ave., is open Sunday from noon to 4 p.m., and Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. (closed Monday and major holidays). Admission and limited parking are free.
