Representatives from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources visited Austintown Intermediate School on April 23.
Students in three different classes spent the day learning about local fish and natural resources in Ohio.
Students played games and won prizes related to natural resources in Ohio.
ODNR representatives organized a game of jeopardy to learn about local fish species.
To end the event, students met ODNR representatives outside the building where they got a first hand experience with local fish species.
The ODNR brought a number of live local fish to the school for students to see and learn about.
Student volunteers offered information about the fish and were even able to touch them.
School principal Angel Owens said that the school hosts representatives from the ODNR every year.
“This is something we do annually as part of our science classes,” Owen said. “The kids always really love having them come in and getting that hands on experience.”
