Boardman High orchestra concert

BOARDMAN

Boardman High School’s annual spring orchestra concert will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Boardman Performing Arts Center, 7777 Glenwood Ave.

It will feature senior solo competition winner Rithika Vangal on piano. She will perform the third movement of “Piano Concerto No. 1 in G minor” by Felix Mendelssohn.

Admission is $3 ($1 for students, free for senior citizens).The Boardman orchestra program is under the direction of Michele Prokop, Bill Amendol and Joel Monaco.

Joe Augustine to play Ford hall

YOUNGSTOWN

Joe Augustine will return to Ford Family Recital Hall on Aug. 16 for a 7 p.m. concert. Augustine is on the faculty of the University of Akron School of Music and is Artist in Residence at Lake Erie College. Named a Steinway Artist in 1994, Augustine’s performance credits include symphony concerts, several with the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra, jazz clubs, and Steinway Piano events.

Accompanying Augustine will be David Morgan, Youngstown State University professor of jazz studies; percussionist Jim Rupp, professor of jazz studies at Ohio State University; and vocalist Dillon Shidemantle.
