Healthier at Home, a free workshop sponsored by Mercy Health Foundation Mahoning Valley, will provide solid advice for caring for one’s self, preventing illness and injury and determining when to seek medical care.

Participants also will receive a book, “Your Complete Guide to Symptoms, Solutions & Self Care,” which provides step-by-step instructions for addressing more than 200 common health issues.

This program takes place from 11 a.m. to noon June 4 at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, 1044 Belmont Ave. To register, call 330-480-3070.

Healthy Eating for You

BOARDMAN

Healthy Eating for You, a free program sponsored by Mercy Health Foundation Mahoning Valley and led by a registered dietitian, will address portion size, reading and understanding nutrition labels and learning to eat mindfully.

The program takes place from 2 to 4 p.m. June 4 at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital, 8401 Market St. To register, call 330-480-3070.

Help Network receives $25K in donations

YOUNGSTOWN

Help Network of Northeast Ohio recently received $25,000 from two local foundations and a company to expand and improve services in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties.

The donors are:

Dearing Compressor, $10,000, the proceeds of a charity raffle at its December holiday party intended to get the word out to the community about Help Network’s 211 lifeline for adults and children suffering or in trouble.

The Ross Griffin Memorial Foundation, $10,000, to help support promotion of Help Network’s services in Trumbull County.

The Raymond John Wean Foundation, $5,000, to fund Youngstown State University’s 2019 Nonprofit Leadership Summer Honors Internship Program.

Help Network of Northeast Ohio provides 24/7 crisis intervention, suicide prevention and intervention, referrals and support services to people experiencing mental-health, substance abuse, homelessness related and/or other situational problems.
