Athletics 7, Tigers 2

DETROIT

Frankie Montas pitched two-run ball into the ninth inning and the Oakland Athletics beat the Detroit Tigers. Montas (5-2) pitched a career-best 82/3 innings, allowing four hits while striking out a career-high 10. Mark Canha and Chad Pinder homered for the A’s. Daniel Norris (2-2) allowed six runs, seven hits and a walk in 51/3 innings. Miguel Cabrera’s ninth-inning RBI doubled tied him with Lou Gehrig for 63rd place with 2,721 career hits.

Blue Jays 10, White Sox 2

CHICAGO

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. homered and the Toronto Blue Jays’ woke up to beat the Chicago White Sox. Justin Smoak and Danny Jansen also hit home runs for Toronto. Sam Gaviglio (3-0) tossed three scoreless innings of relief. Javy Guerra finished with three scoreless innings for his first save. Ivan Nova’s (2-4) allowed nine runs and eight hits in three innings.

Astros 3, Red Sox 1

BOSTON

George Springer hit his 17th home run and the Houston Astros beat the Boston Red Sox. Springer’s two-run shot in the eighth off Rick Porcello put the Astros up 2-1. Will Harris (1-0) pitched one scoreless inning of relief. Roberto Osuna earned his 11th save. Christian Vazquez hit two doubles and with an RBI. Porcello (3-4) allowed two runs and six hits, striking out three.

Yankees 4, Rays 3

NEW YORK

Gio Urshela singled over Kevin Kiermaier’s head in deep right-center field to drive home the winning run with two outs as the New York Yankees rallied to beat the Tampa Bay Rays. Luke Voit homered on the first pitch from Jose Alvarado (0-3) in the bottom of the ninth to make it 3-2 Jonathan Holder (3-1) pitched a perfect inning.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

Dodgers 6, Reds 0

CINCINNATI

Cody Bellinger hit the last of Los Angeles’ four homers, Rich Hill stuck out a season-high 10 and the Dodgers beat the Cincinnati Reds. Corey Seager, Joc Pederson and Max Muncy also homered. Bellinger also had a double. Hill (1-1) allowed two hits in six innings. Anthony DeSclafani (2-2) lasted only four innings.

Braves 12, Brewers 8

ATLANTA

Max Fried allowed two hits in six scoreless innings, Dansby Swanson hit a three-run homer and the Atlanta Braves beat the Milwaukee Brewers. Swanson, Josh Donaldson and Tyler Flowers hit home runs. Fried (6-2) had five strikeouts and walked two batters. Jacob Nottingham homered and drove in four runs for the Brewers. Jhoulys Chacin (3-5) allowed three runs in five innings.

Cubs 14, Nationals 6

WASHINGTON

Kris Bryant hit three home runs and with five RBIs while the Chicago Cubs beat the Washington Nationals. Albert Almora Jr., Kyle Schwarber and Willson Contreras also homered for the Cubs. The only damage Cole Hamels (4-0) allowed was a two-run home run to Anthony Rendon. Max Scherzer (2-5) walked a season-high four and struck out eight in six innings.

Marlins 8, Mets 6

MIAMI

The Marlins pounded Jacob deGrom for seven runs and beat the New York Mets. Jorge Alfaro hit a home run and drove in three. DeGrom (3-5) gave up nine hits. New York’s Pete Alonso hit two solo home runs. Trevor Richards (1-5) allowed three runs in 61/3 innings. Sergio Romo earned his seventh save.

Phillies 5, Rockies 4

PHILADELPHIA

Andrew McCutchen hit a two-run homer, Bryce Harper hit a two-run double and Cole Irvin tossed six innings to lead the Philadelphia Phillies past the Colorado Rockies. Irvin (2-0) gave up four runs — three earned — and five hits. Hector Neris finished for his sixth save. Ian Desmond ripped a two-run homer for Colorado. Rockies starter Jon Gray (3-4) allowed five runs and five hits in 42/3 innings.

INTERLEAGUE

Rangers 7, Cardinals 3

ARLINGTON, Texas

Rougned Odor and Shin-Soo Choo homered in a seven-run second inning, Adrian Sampson got his first career win and the Texas Rangers beat the St. Louis Cardinals. Sampson (1-3) gave up seven hits and two runs — one earned — in 51/3 innings. Miles Mikolas (4-4) allowed nine hits and seven runs in 11/3 innings.
