BOARDMAN

SmashUp Entertainment will present the sketch comedy cabaret “Spring Into Summer” at 6:30 p.m. May 31 and June 1 at Magic Tree Pub and Eatery, 7463 South Ave.

“The show is a combination of “Saturday Night Live”-style skits, songs and show tunes,” said Michael Dempsey, writer-director of the show.

“We put seasonal topics like camping, cooking contests, little league, cruises and vacation disasters on the barbecue skewer.”

Tickets are $35 and include the show, a band and a buffet and dessert bar.

For reservations, go to magictreepubandeatery.com (click events header). Group discounts are available. There will be no walk-up sales.

The show is rated R for language and content.

Dempsey, a Mahoning Valley-based stage director and playwright, formerly wrote for network television sitcoms. His plays have been produced in New York, Los Angeles and regionally.

Dempsey founded SmashUp Entertainment in 2018 to provide something different for local audiences.

“Our stuff is pretty off-the-rails and wacky,” he said. “The three previous ventures with Magic Tree were extremely well-received.”
