Lorenzo Russo hit a two-run triple, but those were all the runs the Falcons could manage against Blue Streaks in a sectional final defeat, Bobby Cavalier had two hits for Fitch (18-8). Devin Higginbotham pitched a complete game, scattering eight hits and striking out six. Christian Myers, Trey Giannini, and Jake Lawrence had the other hits for the Falcons. Lake advances to meet top-seeded Massillon Jackson in a district semifinal at 2 p.m. at Dick Miller Field in North Canton.

JACKSON TOWNSHIP

Matt Hicks went 3 for 3, including an RBI bunt single and Jake Ryan had a three-run triple as the top-seeded Polar Bears (23-2) beat the ninth-seeded Spartans (15-14) in a sectional final. Ohio State recruit Yianni Skeriotis pitched five shutout innings and struck out nine for Jackson, which will meet Uniontown Lake in a district semifinal at 2 p.m. Tuesday.

STRUTHERS

Logan Bell recorded his 300th strikeout in the game. Bell struck out 14 and has 301 career strikeouts. He allowed one unearned run on four hits and four walks in a complete-game win in a sectonal final. Tyler Welsh, Brice Blackburn and Josh Entrikin drove in runs for the Blue Devils. Bryan Harris allowed three runs on eight hits and a walk, striking out six in a complete game. Vinnie Kacir drove in a run for the Rockets. Lisbon will play Warren JFK on Tuesday at Cene Park in a district semifinal. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.

MCDONALD

Logan Shields and Zach Nolf had a hit and an RBI each for McDonald. Shields pitched a complete game, allowing three hits and striking out seven. Tanner Matig also had a hit for the Blue Devils. Josh Pratt, Conner Lewis and Timmy West had hits for Southern. Sam May drove in a run. McDonald will take on Springfield on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Cene Park.

WARREN

AJ Arp threw a no-hitter, with just one walk and 10 strikeouts to lead JFK. Isaac Hadley had two hits and two RBIs to lead the Eagles at the plate. Alex DeSalvo also had two hits and two RBI. Alex Hernandez and Cameron Hollobaugh had two hits and an RBI for the Eagles.

Shane Eynon pitched a complete game, striking out eight for Springfield (22-3). John Slike had two hits and two RBIs for the Tigers. Caleb Graft, Tom Kling, and Joel Morgan had a hit each for Heartland Christian (8-11).

Adam Wibert struck out 17 for Mathews (18-3). Zach Rhodanz and Brad Perry had two hits and two RBIs each for the top seeded Mustangs. Jackson Iceman added two hits and Jon Goff drove in two runs. Mathews will play Maplewood Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Fairport Harbor.

Gagr Elza threw a no hitter, striking out five and walking one. Elza also drove in two runs. Nick Church had three hits to lead the Panthers offense. Johnny Stephens added two hits and two RBI. NORTH JACKSON

Megan Ward slugged a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a 3-3 tie and give the Blue Devils a district championship. Ward also had a single and a double among eight hits for McDonald (17-4). Winning pitcher Bri Callow survived a three-run East Canton first inning and shut out the Hornets the rest of the way. Callow struck out 11, walked one and allowed just four hits. McDonald cut into its 3-0 deficit with a run in the bottom of the first and tied the game with two in the third. Chelsea Sudol added a triple for the Blue Devils. McDonald will meet Monroeville or Lucas in a regional semifinal at 5 p.m. Thursday at Akron’s Firestone Stadium.

WARREN

Alayna Sines earned the win, striking out seven and allowing seven hits. Kayla Switzer and Jaylyn Mullenax each had two hits for Bristol. Alayna Sines and Bella Homchosky each doubled for the Panthers. Ashley Deans and Lena Wallace each had two hits for the Mustangs. Wallace had two RBIs. Emma Gates took the loss in relief, allowing two hits and one walk with a strikeout. The Panthers will play Jeromesville Hillsdale on Thursday at Akron Firestone Stadium in a regional semifinal.

Warren Harding duo win first district match

AKRON

The Warren Harding doubles tandem of Anthony Payiavlas and Alex Payiavlas won their first-round match in the Division I district tennis tournament Thiursday at Springside Racquet and Fitness Club. The Payiavlas brothers defeated Kenny Lu and Thomas Deucher (Cleveland St. Jgnatius) 6-1, 6-4. The Harding duo then fell to Alex Drewes and Bobby Thomas (Green) 6-0, 6-2. Drewes and Thomas were the top-seeded pair out of the Canton sectional. Canfield’s Sirin Nalluri lost his first-round match to Yukun Wang (Mayfield) 6-2, 6-2 and was eliminated. Wang was a No. 2 seed out of the Solon sectional. Nalluri was the No. 3 seed from the Canton sectional.

Division II district play begins today at Springside

AKRON

Division II preliminary district play begins today at 9 a.m. at Springside. Ursuline has two doubles teams (Austin Arfaras/Luke Tsudis and Gavin Blacksher/Josh Kharvan) and two singles players (Greg Morgione and Sean O’Connor) in the tournament. Poland’s doubles team of Sam Scotford and Sam Delatore are also in the field. Other area singles pkayers include Jake McDivitt of Lakeview and Armand Nanniciola of Warren JFK.
