OhioCAN event is Saturday

YOUNGSTOWN — OhioCAN (Change Addiction Now) Mahoning County will sponsor “Steps of Change,” a family-oriented community event focused on addiction awareness and recovery in a stigma- and judgment-free environment from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Youngstown, 1105 Elm St.

The keynote speaker will be Laura Cash, a harm reduction advocate. There will be free Narcan training and kit distribution at 11 a.m., registration for the community memorial walk at noon, “Walk a Mile in My Shoes” at 12:30 p.m., recitation of names in memoriam at 1 p.m., and educational speakers at 2 p.m.

Throughout the event, there will be informational resource tables, a memorial shoe display, and luminaria acknowledging those in recovery. In addition, there will be live music, children’s activities, a basket auction, 50/50 raffle, and a drum circle.
