Film about Valley stunt-car club will premiere at Yankee Lake

The premiere of “Stuntlife,” a documentary film about the Northeast Ohio Dukes, will take place Saturday at Yankee Lake ballroom on state Route 7.

The full-length film, made by A.J. Satterfield of Highway Pictures, chronicles the Mahoning Valley-based group and its rise to a nationally performing live-action stunt show.

The Northeast Ohio Dukes fan club started at Yankee Lake in 2007. It has since performed all around the country and has gone from a single General Lee jump to a full two-hour show that pays tribute to the “Dukes of Hazard” television show.

Hollywood actor Byron Cherry, who played Coy Duke on the TV show, will emcee Saturday’s event, which begins at 4 p.m. The movie will be screened at 8 p.m. Admission will be $15 ($10 for children, senior citizens and military).

Cars used in the TV show will be on display, and also K.I.T.T. and the “Bandit” tribute car, built to honor the late Bert Reynolds, star of “Smokey and the Bandit.” For information, go to northeastohiodukes.net/stuntlife.
