Canton District

Boardman 2, Massillon 1

MASSILLON

Cam Kreps tied the game in the sixth inning with a sacrifice fly, then doubled in the ninth and scored the go-ahead run on Luke Stauffer’s RBI single as the Spartans (15-13) beat the Tigers (13-13) in a sectional semifinal. Tyler Peterson scattered seven hits and struck out five in a complete-game victory. Massillon’s Aiden Longwell took the loss in relief. Boardman will visit top-seeded Massillon Jackson in a sectional final Thursday at 5 p.m.

DIVISION II

Struthers District

Howland 11, Cardinal Mooney 4

STRUTHERS

Joey Perfette went 4 for 5 with a double, four RBIs and two runs scored for Howland in a sectional semifinal. Luca Massucci also went 4 for 5 and drove in a pair while Josh McCleery had two RBIs. Frankie Manios allowed four runs — three earned — on seven hits and three walks, striking out three in a complete-game win. AJ Pepperney took the loss, allowing three runs on six hits and striking out two in 11/3 innings. Blake Delsignore drove in two runs for the Cardinals. The Tigers will play Canfield at Bob Cene Park in Struthers today in a sectional final at 7 p.m.

Hubbard 8, Girard 1

HUBBARD

Dylan Durkos broke open a 2-1 Hubbard (16-12) lead in the bottom of the fifth with a bases loaded single, bringing in two runs. This was after Girard’s (7-15) Nick DeGregory scored Austin Claussell on a base hit in the fourth inning. Nate Bencetic had three hits and three RBI for Hubbard. Jimmy Palumbo added two RBI for the Eagles and Lukas Mosora had two doubles. Joe Barr was the winning pitcher, striking out five. Hubbard will play Poland today at 5 p.m. at Poland.

Salem 8, Struthers 5

SALEM

Blaise Exline drove in three runs to lead Salem. Lane Rhodes pitched a complete game and struck out 11 for the Quakers. Nick Coletta added two RBIs. Struthers was led by Rob Tomko with two hits. Salem will play Niles today at 5 p.m. at Niles.

West Branch 18, East 0

BELOIT

Devin Conrad, Carter Holodnak and Justin Goode combined to throw a no-hitter in five innings. Cole Bates and Tristan Ballard each hit a triple for West Branch. Bates was 3 for 3 with three RBIs and Ballard had two RBIs. West Branch advances to play at Alliance today at 5 p.m.

Gates Mills District

Lakeview 1, Painesville Harvey 0

CORTLAND

Austin Vogt, Kevin Ellsworth-Myers, and Jake Wilms had a hit each for Lakeview. Wilms scored the only run of the game in the second inning. Vogt pitched a complete game shutout, striking out 14. Lakeview will take on Geneva today at 5 p.m. in Geneva.

DIVISION III

Struthers District

Crestview 15, Waterloo 2

COLUMBIANA

Devin Turvey had a triple and three RBIs for Crestview. Carter Blakeman and Chuck Lindsay had two hits and an RBI each for the Rebels. Tyler Hurd and James Fitzgerald also drove in two runs. Crestview plays Rootstown today at 5 p.m. at Rootstown.

East Palestine 9, Western Reserve 6

BERLIN CENTER

Cooper Vance and Dalton Vance each had two hits for the Bulldogs (16-7-1). Dalton Vance scored twice and drove in a run while Cooper Vance scored once and drove in a run. Cameron Wistherman hit a two-run double while Sean Heopy drove in a run with his double. Today, East Palestine plays at South Range in a sectional final. For the Blue Devils (15-9), Cody Wise contributed three hits and scored twice. Brycen Jackson and Ryan Slaven each had two hits.

Niles District

Burton Berkshire 3, Mineral Ridge 1

MINERAL RIDGE

The 10th-seeded Badgers broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the top of the seventh inning to upset the seventh-seeded Rams on the road in a sectional semifinal. Koby Zupko homered for the only Mineral Ridge run and Blake Jenkins had a double for the Rams. Mike Billa finished with a three-hitter for the victory. Berkshire will visit second-seeded Edgewood in a sectional final Thursday.

LaBrae 12, Pymatuning Valley 2

STRUTHERS

Dane Sprague drove in three runs for the Vikings in a sectional semifinal win. Connor Meyer and Lucas Lancaster drove in two runs each. LaBrae had 17 hits while Robert Verba got the only hit for Pymatuning Valley. The Vikings will play Newton Falls on the road today in a sectional final at 5 p.m.

DIVISION IV

Struthers District

Heartland Christian 4, Wellsville 0

WELLSIVLLE

Caleb Graft allowed three hits and four walks, striking out 13 in a complete-game win. Cole Corbin allowed four runs on six hits and four walks for the Tigers (9-10-2). He struck out two in 31/3 innings in the loss. Zach Labon had two singles and an RBI for the Lions (8-10). Graft, Hayden Steward and Joel Morgan all had singles and drove in a run. The Lions will travel to Springfield to play the Tigers in a sectional final Thursday at 5 p.m.

Lisbon 10, Leetonia 0

LISBON

Justin Sweeney pitched a one-hit shutout for Lisbon (11-13-1), striking out seven with no walks. Sweeney was 3 for 4 at the plate with a double and an RBI. Logan Bell hit a double and Nick Mundy added two hits. Brayden Duko had the lone hit for Leetonia. Lisbon advances to play Lowellville on Thursday at Cene Park at 5 p.m.

Jackson-Milton 5, St. Thomas Aquinas 4

NORTH JACKSON

Harrison Lay’s two-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning erased a 4-3 deficit and the Blue Jays (13-13) beat the Knights in a sectional semifinal. Lay had two hits and James Harris had a double for seventh-seeded Jackson-Milton. Mason Robison started the game on the mound and had four strikeouts and allowed three earned runs in five innings. Nick Rich worked two perfect innings of relief for the victory. Alex Hawkins and Preston Mitchell had three hits apiece for Aquinas. Colton Smith added two hits for the Knights. The Blue Jays will meet second-seeded Warren JFK at 5 p.m. Thursday at Warren Harding High School.

McDonald 12, Lordstown 0

MCDONALD

Brian Ortega drove in three runs to lead McDonald. Trevor Matig drove in two runs on two hits for the Blue Devils. Anthony Tamburro also drove in two runs. Zach Nolf struck out six. McDonald will play Southern on Thursday at 5 p.m. at McDonald.

Southern 12, Sebring 2

SALINEVILLE

The Indians advance to play a sectional final game at McDonald. Matt Byrd doubled for the Trojans (1-12). Jake Hunter, Camden Green and Frankie Lozoya each had hits.

REGULAR SEASON

Franklin 5, Hickory 4

FRANKLIN, PA.

Cam Whalen’s district-leading seventh home run — a three run home run — wasn’t enough to complete the comeback for Hickory (11-3, 6-2). Nick Osborne struck out four and walked one while giving up three earned runs while taking the loss. Kolton Banfi threw four innings, striking out four and walking one while getting the win for Franklin. Connor Rakow threw three scoreless innings in relief.

Jefferson District

Jefferson 3, Lakeview 1

JEFFERSON

Beady Titus had two of Lakeview’s four hits, including a double. Cait Kelm struck out four and walked two while taking the loss for the Bulldogs. Sheridan Wilber struck out six while earning the win for Jefferson.

DIVISION III

Newton Falls 6, LaBrae 3

LEAVITTSBURG

Emily Knight had two hits and two RBI to lead Newton Falls. Sophie Tvaroch also had two hits and two RBI for the Tigers. Sydney Pearce drove in two runs for LaBrae. Newton Falls advances to the district title game on Thursday.

Springfield’s Jarrett Orbin will continue his baseball career at Geneva College. This season, Orbin is batting .296 with 18 RBIs and on the mound, he is 4-0 with a 4.10 ERA.
