UPDATE | Jerrell Womack found guilty in drug-overdose death

YOUNGSTOWN — Jerrell Womack, 27, of Oak Street Extension, was found guilty today by a jury in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court of supplying the drugs that led to the Oct. 20, 2017, overdose death of Richard Harmony, 47, of Austintown.

Jurors took a little more than two hours to find Womack guilty of involuntary manslaughter, corrupting another with drugs and trafficking in drugs.

Sentencing is set for 2:30 p.m. May 30 before Judge Anthony Donofrio.

YOUNGSTOWN — Jurors this afternoon are expected to begin deliberating the fate of a man accused of selling drugs that led to an overdose death.

Judge Anthony Donofrio of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court was instructing jurors on the law in the case of Jerrell Womack, 27, of Oak Street Extension, who is charged with involuntary manslaughter and corrupting another with drugs in the Oct. 20, 2017, overdose death of Richard Harmony, 47, of Austintown.

Harmony was found dead in a Mahoning Avenue apartment. A coroner’s report ruled he died after overdosing on several drugs.

Testimony in the case began late Monday afternoon.
