25 — The 4th annual DFC Celebrate Recovery 5K will take place at Damascus Friends Church at 9:00 am. Events include 5K run, 5K walking category and Duathlon with medals and prizes for age bracket winners. $50 cash prize for overall male and female 5K run and Duathlon winners. There is also a 12 mile bike ride and kids 1/2 mile fun run. Cost is $16 which includes choice of short or long sleeve performance shirt and gym towel. Coach Dick Hartzell will be on hand with his Jump Stretch exercise bands. Register online at runsignup.com.

27 — The 29th annual Memorial Mile running road race will be held in Boardman. Some of the best runners in the area will compete for gift certificates and awards in 14 age groups. Runners ages 11 and under are free (no T-shirt) with pre-registration by Friday May 18.The entry fee is $10.00 in advance for all others and $13.00 day of race for everyone. The race starts at Routes 224 and 7.Day of race registration and packets can be picked up at Walgreens at Route 224 and Route 7.It is sponsored by Walgreens, 910 Rapid Care, Coke, the DeBartolo Corporation, Armstrong, Novak and Davis Insurance, and other local businesses. 6 — The Immaculate 5k at the Festival. The Race starts and ends at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church at 4490 Norquest Blvd in Austintown. Registration is for the Kids’ Dash at 7 p.m. is free. All other events have a $10 entry fee. The 5k race starts at the conclusion of the Kids’ Dash. Registration opens at 5 p.m. Runners receive a hot dog and soft drink for free. 8 — The Autism Society of Mahoning Valley (ASMV) is pleased to invite the community to test their skills at the new Autism Warrior competition from 8 a.m. to noon at the Canfield Fairgrounds. An expansion of the nonprofit’s annual Valley Autism 5K and Autism Support Walk, the Autism Warrior event will bring together the region’s best athletes and families to compete for prizes in the 5K, Ninja Obstacle Course and People-Powered Tractor Pull. The event also features a Special Needs Resource Fair to bring together local resources for families affected by autism and other special needs.
