Spring Photo Hike

When: Today, 10 a.m. to noon

What: Vindicator reporter and photographer Joe Gorman will lead a hike through one of his favorite areas of Mill Creek Park and share his love of nature photography.

Where: Suspension Bridge parking lot.

Cost: Free.

PUBLIC GARDENS DAY

When: Today, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

What: Celebrate your local public garden, Fellows Riverside Gardens, with opportunities that include: the spring plant sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., guided garden tours, 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., and a 10 percent discount in the Shop in the Gardens.

BIRDS OF SPRING

What: Bring the whole family and join the Family Nature Club. This month, club members celebrate the birds of spring. Bird watching, hiking and nest building are part of the fun.

GROWING STRAWBERRIES

What: Eager for strawberry season? Come harvest some knowledge over strawberries with our master gardeners right before their peak season.

NATURALIST TRAINING

When: June 17, 19, 21, 25, and 27, 6 to 8 p.m., and June 29, 10 am to 3:30 p.m.

What: The Junior Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist program will expose students in the ninth grade and up to relevant natural resource skills and knowledge. They will accomplish this with training, monthly meetings and volunteer opportunities through OSU Extension and Mill Creek MetroParks.

HYDRANGEA SCHOOL

When: June 12, 6 to 8 p.m.

What: Join Eric Barrett, OSU Extension director, to discover the world of hydrangeas. Learn about types, care, pruning and bloom times. You’ll receive a quick reference chart to take to the garden center when you make a purchase. Everyone gets a hydrangea plant to take home.
