v “Matilda,” 7:30 p.m.: Easy Street Productions presents the Youngstown premiere of hit the Broadway musical ($19 to $29) at Powers Auditorium, Youngstown; 330-744-0264.

v “Funny Girl,” 7:30 p.m.: The story of vaudeville-era actor-comedian Fanny Brice is told in this famed musical ($15), which will open tonight at the Youngstown Playhouse; 330-788-8739.

Also, Erin interviews a witness whose story leads her to doubt Eddie’s honesty, since she took his initial statement, and Danny and Baez unravel the complicated love life of a young homicide victim.

Illuminare choral group in concert

YOUNGSTOWN

The Illuminare Choral Ensemble will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 421 Covington St. A free-will offering will be received to benefit the ensemble. For information, call 330-607-6320

Illuminare was formed in 2007 as the Salem Youth Chorus to give teen and college-age singers the opportunity to experience and perform great sacred choral literature.

The ensemble, directed by Jon Simsic, has performed in Colonial Williamsburg, Va., and in cathedrals and churches in eight states and several countries.

Future performances include 7:30 p.m. May 18 at St. John Lutheran Church, 5734 Mahoning Ave. NW,, Warren; and 7:30 p.m. May 19 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 4453 Warren Sharon Road, Vienna.
