CORTLAND

Cait Kelm struck out 15 and pitched a one-hitter as the Bulldogs won a sectional title by beating the Wolverines. Raegan Schick had two hits for Lakeview, which will play top-seeded Jefferson in a district semifinal in Jefferson at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons beat Chardon Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin 11-1 in another sectional final.

Champion 7, Kirtland 0

CHAMPION

Kirtland forfeited Thursday’s sectional final because of not having enough healthy players. Champion advances to next week’s district tournament at LaBrae.

EAST FAIRFIELD

Taylor Mellington and Ashton Hughes delivered RBI singles in the bottom of the fourth inning and Kaedyn Sutton pitched a shutout as the Rebels (20-5) won a sectional title. Crestview will meet Waterloo in a district semifinal Tuesday at South Range High School. Mellington finished with two hits for the Rebels, who will host All-American Conference Blue Tier rival LaBrae for Senior Day today. Kayla Prater led the Pirates with two hits.

Waterloo 10, Rootstown 2

ATWATER

Amber Cieplinski had a four-hit performance in a sectional final win, including her 13th home run and a double. Laura Hood added two singles and a double. Mackensi Kehrer and Mariah Francis added two singles each. Karlee Duvall had two singles for the Rovers. Kehrer got the win for the Vikings (16-5).

WARREN

Jenny Taraszweski and Kathryn O’Horo combined to toss a five-inning five hitter. Nina Scavelli’s three hits included a homer and she scored three times. Alicia Saxton’s three hits drove in two runs. Madison Lester also had three hits. For the Raiders, Natalie Stanton had two hits.

Bristol 7, Windham 2

BRISTOLVILLE

Lindsay Miller had four hits, including a double, and drove in two runs as the Panthers beat the Bombers. Alayna Sines, Kayla Switzer and Jaylyn Mullenax each had two hits for Bristol. Winning pitcher Jaylyn Mullenax scattered six hits, walked four and struck out nine. McKenzie McLean and Cheyenne Wallace each had two hits for Windham. One of McLean’s hits was a double.

Poland 6, Ursuline 2

STRUTHERS

Winning pitcher Mike Kushner struck out one and walked one in five innings for the Bulldogs (17-4). Alex Barth contributed three hits, three runs scored and one RBI. One of his hits was a triple. Braeden O’Shaughnessy drove in three runs with a double. For the Irish (11-13), Vince Armeni had two hits and Brent Nelson drove in a run.

BEAVER TOWNSHIP

Reliever Trey Pancake (2-1) earned the win, striking out three in the two innings he pitched for the Raiders (19-4). Jared Bajerski powered the Raiders’ offense with three hits. Brandon Mikos tripled and doubled to drive in four runs while Ben Rivera hit a two-run homer. He finished with three RBIs. For the Warriors (16-10), Nick Wilson drove in two runs with two hits. Cole Bates’ tripled twice. David Cunningham drove in four runs and hit a double. Tristan Ballard and Jared Butler each had two hits.

Springfield 6, Girard 1

NEW MIDDLETOWN

Drew Clark had two hits and Clayton Nezbeth doubled. For the Indians, Braedon Freeland and Matt Miles doubled.

Salem 9, Western Reserve 7

NILES

The Quakers extended their win streak to four and snapped Western Reserve’s (15-8) six game-win streak at Eastwood Field. Starting pitcher Brock Young got his first varsity win. He six innings, giving up three earned runs while striking out five. Salem scored six runs in the second to take a 6-2 lead. Turner Johnson drove in two one a two-out single for the Quakers (13-11, 7-5 Eastern Buckeye Confernce) and Adam Wilson had an RBI single.

Warren JFK 14, Chaney 0

WARREN

Peyton Comer pitched four innings and London Hua pitched the fifth to combine for a five-inning no-hitter. Comer struck out six and allowed one walk, the only Cowboys base runner. Gavin Shrum, Alex Hernandez, Michael Mauro and AJ Arp each had two RBIs for the Eagles. Shrum went 3 for 4 with a double and two runs scored. Names for Chaney players were not provided.

Niles 10, Warren Harding 8

NILES

Chase Sudzina earned the win and Andrew Huffman pitched 11/3 scoreless innings for the save. Sudzina allowed three runs on three hits and three walks, striking out three in four innings. Cameron Knupp struck out two in four innings for the loss. Knupp allowed six runs — five earned — on eight hits and five walks. Bret Brown, Matt Williams and Brandon Arnold drove in two runs each for the Raiders. Nick Guarnieri drove in two runs for the Red Dragons.

Hubbard 16, Liberty 3

HUBBARD

Lukas Mosora homered, hit two doubles and drove in three runs as the Eagles (14-12) beat the Leopards in five innings. Jamie Thomson and Evan Jarvis also had three hits each. Thomson scored three runs. Andrew Frank, Dylan Durkos and Nate Bencetic each had two hits. Frank and Durkos each doubled and drove in two runs. Winning pitcher Anthony Corrin went the distance and struck out six. Liberty (7-17) was led by Trevor Strohemeyer’s three hits, while Zach Coman had a single and double.

Rootstown 8, Howland 3

ROOTSTOWN

Adam Whitacre had three hits and Travis McCrady and Nick Putnam each had two as the Rovers beat the Tigers. Putnam doubled and drove in three runs for Rootstown. Colton Freedson scattered five hits for the victory. He walked one and struck out three. Ray Kaso tripled and scored for Howland. Gage Tomko and Ray Perfette drove in runs for the Tigers.

Newton Falls 4, Jackson-Milton 0

NEWTON FALLS

Nick Rich had two hits for Jackson-Milton. Aaron Landis added one hit. No details for Newton Falls were provided.

McDonald 6, Heartland Christian 4

MCDONALD

Trevor Matig had three hits and an RBI to lead McDonald. Zach Nolf added two hits and two RBIs for the Blue Devils. Devin Sirota had two hits and an RBI for Heartland Christian.

Lowellville 5, Mathews 2

STRUTHERS

Vinnie Kacir had two hits and an RBI for the Rockets (13-8) and Ricky Cutter drove in a run and pitched six innings for the victory. Cutter struck out four. Adam Wibert hit a two-run home run for the Mustangs (16-3). The game was called in the top of the seventh inning because of rain.

EAST LIVERPOOL

The Wildcats used a 10-run third inning to blow out the Beavers in five innings. J.D. Hall led Struthers with three hits and drove in two runs and Billy Opritza had three RBIs. Hunter Stellato and Ronnie Leonard each had two hits for the Wildcats. Leonard scattered five hits and struck out three in five innings for the win.

Grand Valley 6, Bristol 0

BRISTOLVILLE

Logan Newell struck out 11 for Grand Valley (15-3). Derek Jackson drove in two runs and had a double and triple to lead the offense. Nick Reichek added two hits for the Mustangs. Gage Elza struck out five for Bristol (14-7).

Hickory 11, Oil City 1

HERMITAGE, PA.

Hornets pitchers Hayden Gallagher and Connor Evans combined to shut down the Oilers. Gallagher started and threw four scoreless innings. Evans pitched the final two innings of Hickory’s six-inning victory. Cam Whalen hit a three-run home run and Asher Patton hit a two-run shot for the Hornets. Patton finished with four RBIs. Kyle Moyer and Zach Lordo added solo home runs for Hickory (10-2, 6-1 in the region).

BOARDMAN

Boardman statistics were not reported. Marissa Mangino scored three goals for the Bulldogs while Alyson Andrews had a goal and an assist. Also scoring were Emillie Franco and Zoe Simon. Goalkeeper Abbi Aey made 23 saves. Cathrine Sicafus led the Bulldogs with seven ground balls. Simon had six and Andrew and Franco five apiece. Cassie Aey made three interceptions.
