Diocese announces award winners
YOUNGSTOWN
The Office of Catholic Schools recently announced the 2019 winners of the Golden Apple Award, which honors individuals who teach or are an administrator in Catholic schools. The award is available through the Donahue Family Foundation of Pittsburgh.
The award winners are Lynda Campagne, St. John School, Ashtabula; Ashley Cross, St. Barbara Elementary School, Massillon; Lisa Devlin, Ursuline High School, Youngstown; Erin Dolecki, Sts. Philip and James Elementary School, Canal Fulton; Cheryl Jablonski, St. Joseph the Provider Elementary School, Youngstown; Kathleen Schneider, St. Charles Elementary School, Boardman; and Ann Weakland, St. Mary Elementary School, Massillon.
The winners will be honored during a dinner Thursday at the Youngstown Country Club. For information, call the Office of Catholic Schools at the diocese at 330-744-8451.
Library will host Steel Valley Ukers
LISBON
The Lepper Library, 303 E. Lincoln Way, will host the Steel Valley Ukers, organized by Richard Wyant, from 1 to 3 p.m. May 11. The group will conduct an introductory workshop for beginners of all ages. No experience necessary.

West Branch students compete in build-off
BELOIT
Two teams from the West Branch Career Based Intervention Program are competing in the OMB Warehouse Mini Bike Build-Off with students worldwide who will build or restore the best mini bike. WB High School sophomore, Samantha Coffman and freshmen, Seth Lee and Miranda Hinchliffe are competing in the Vintage class, restoring a 1963 Tote Gote Model 404. WB Middle School eighth-grade student, Brian Boston, is competing in the 18 and Under class, restoring a 1970 Fox Sprite.
As part of the competition, students must post photographs of their progress on the OMB website once a month. The community is invited to track both groups’ progress at www.mrdaviscbi.com/biker-build-off-2019.html. The contest takes place through May 31.
Survivors of Suicide Walk planned
WARREN
The 12th annual Survivors of Suicide Awareness Walk, a walk in memory of loved ones who died by suicide, will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. May 18 at the Trumbull County Courthouse Gazebo, Courthouse Square. Attendees are encouraged to bring photos or signs to highlight the loss of loved ones to suicide. Names of those who have died will be read. To submit a name, email cgrizinski@helpnetworkneo.org.
