Auxiliary to host bingo event Sunday

Girard Eagles 2172 Ladies Auxiliary, 26 W. Wilson Ave., will host bingo Sunday. Doors open at noon; bingo starts at 1 p.m. Cost is $5. The event will include a sack lunch, basket and 50-50 raffles. Proceeds will benfit the group’s charity.

Mother’s Day Market to take place today

AUSTINTOWN

The Austintown Farmers Market will host its third annual Mother’s Day Market from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Austintown Township Park, 6000 Kirk Road. There will be a free teacup flower pot planter, face painting, dress-up center, free photographs, live music and more. There also will be vendors offering crafts, kettle corn, lemonade, personal care items, plants and food. A basket auction will take place and proceeds will benefit market operations.

ACE awards scholarships

YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown State University Association of Classified Employees has awarded $725 in scholarships to three YSU students: $300 to Vanessa Reilly of Warren, majoring in integrated math education; $225 to Sarah Dubos of Newton Falls, majoring in theater studies; and $200 to Sarah Drabison of Austintown, majoring in integrated language arts.

Applicants must have completed at least 30 semester hours at YSU and must submit an essay discussing the value of his/her employment at YSU, their community service and two recommendation letters from YSU-ACE members. An award dinner will take place at Collections Cafe in the Butler Institute of American Art at 5:15 p.m. Monday.

Museum to open season Sunday

SALEM

The Salem Historical Society Museum, 208 S. Broadway Ave., will open for the season Sunday and remain open each Sunday through Oct. 27 from 1 to 4 p.m.

Guided tours of all the exhibits are available during these times. Members are admitted free. Admission for adults is $6; children ages 5-17 are $3; and those under 5 are admitted free.

The last tour begins a half-hour before closing. Guests are encouraged to come early and plan to stay at least 90 minutes. This year’s feature exhibit includes the history of transportation in the Salem area. Group tours available by appointment. Contact the society at 330-337-8514 with questions.

SMS to host Enroll, Enlist, Employ

Struthers Middle School will host a new event to expose students to a variety of career opportunities.

Enroll, Enlist, Employ, a four day event, will give eighth-grade students an opportunity to explore careers and build a foundation of knowledge about the different opportunities offered after high school. Each day will have a different focus.

Spring fashion show and luncheon

The Angels of Easter Seals will host its 42nd annual spring fashion show and luncheon, “In Full Bloom,” from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Mr. Anthony’s Banquet Center, 7440 South Ave.
