The Austintown library hosted the second portrait drawing class on April 2.
Librarian Andrea Zupcsan organized the event, where attendees had to participate in portrait drawing one before attending the second class.
“It’s just a lot of fun,” Zupcsan said. “Everyone is a different degree of finished with their art.”
Zupcsan said that the two class program is designed to teach community members about the basics of portrait drawing, then give them time to work on their pieces.
“It’s just a matter of getting people to work on art of any form, and see what everyone can do,” Zupcsan said.
Community members attended the first drawing class bringing photos they wished to draw.
Zupcsan made copies of the photos, drawing a grid pattern over them and explaining basic sketching and shading principals.
Attendees brought a variety of photos, including pictures of their children, parents and grandparents.
Both classes were two hours in length, with the second class focused on finishing the projects with Zupcsan around to answer any questions.
“It’s great, almost everyone comes back,” Zupcsan said. “We always have a good time.”
