Food sales and dinners through May 8


TODAY

Holy Family Church, 2729 Center Road, Poland, will host a takeout-only cavatelli dinner from 2:30 to 6 p.m. or until sold out. The menu includes cavatelli with homemade sauce, meatballs, tossed salad, bread and butter and cookies for $10. Smaller portion of cavatelli and one meatball, $5; homemade pasta fagioli, $6 per quart; and fresh or frozen homemade sauce, $5 per quart. Place the order, remain in the car and your dinner will be delivered.

THURSDAY

Aut Mori Grotto, 563 N. Belle Vista Ave., will host a beef tips and noodles dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. The menu includes beef tips and noodles, salad, bread with butter, beverages and dessert. Christ Our Savior Parish at Holy Trinity Church, 250 N. Bridge St., Struthers, will sell potato, cabbage and lekvar pirogi. The cost is $6 a dozen. There is a limit of three dozen cabbage pirogi while supplies last. Orders will be taken from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Friday at 330-755-0064. No walk-in orders will be accepted. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Containers will be provided.

Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church Hall, 526 W. Rayen Ave., will take orders for fresh potato and potato with kraut pirogi for $6 per dozen. No containers are necessary. Orders should be placed from 9 to 11 a.m. or until sold out Thursday and at 10:30 a.m. Friday, if available, by calling 330-746-9528. Pick up will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Lunches also will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.

Poland United Methodist Church, 1940 Boardman-Poland Road, will have takeout dinners available from 3:30 p.m. until sold out. Cost is $7. No need to pre-order or get out of the car. Just drive to the front of the church, and the meal of baked stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and green beans will be ready.

St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell, will sell pirogi Friday. Call in orders Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. until sold out, to 330-755-1316. Choose potato, kraut or prune pirogi at $6 per dozen. Pickup will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday. Walk-ins not accepted.

St. Paul the Apostle Church, 10143 Main St., New Middletown, will have a pirogi sale. The cost is $6 per dozen. Potato, cabbage and cottage cheese pirogi are available. Phone orders will be taken from 8 to 10 a.m. Thursday and from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday. Call 330-542-3525 to order. Pick up will take place from noon to 2 p.m. Friday.

St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave., Youngstown, is selling potato, kraut and cottage cheese pirogi. Advance orders will be taken at 330-747-3024 from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday and Friday. Pickup will be Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $7 per dozen. Pirogi lunches will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Walk-in orders are welcome.

Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road (state Route 62), Canfield, will host a Swiss steak dinner from 4 p.m. until sold out. Menu includes Swiss steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetable, applesauce and dessert. Cost is $10. This dinner will be takeout only due to the garage sale. Dinners will resume in September.

FRIDAY

Angels for Animals, 4750 W. South Range Road, Canfield, will host a homemade lasagna-to-go dinner from 4 to 6 p.m., for curb service under the Andrews Hall canopy. Menu includes lasagna, salad and dressing, bread and butter and cake. Vegetarian-style also is available. Cost is $10. There will be curb-side gift cards and a lottery ticket raffle. Canfield Lions will host a fish fry from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at A La Cart Catering, 429 Lisbon St. Meals include a choice of baked or fried fish, french fries, macaroni and cheese, pirogi or haluski and coleslaw, green beans, roll, dessert and beverage. Cost is $12 and will be takeout or dine-in.

St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 4310 Kirk Road, Austintown, will be selling potato and cheese pirogi Friday. To order, call 330-799-0084 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday. Pickup will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Cost is $7 a dozen. No containers are necessary. Walk-ins are welcome. Use the side entrance.

SUNDAY

Holy Apostles Parish, St. Stephen of Hungary Church, 854 W. Wilson Ave., Youngstown, will host a chicken paprikas dinner from noon to 3 p.m. Menu includes chicken and dumplings, green beans, bread and butter, dessert, coffee, tea or punch. Cost is $13 for adults and $7 for children age 3 to 10. Tickets must be purchased in advance by calling the rectory at 330-743-1905 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. No tickets will be sold at the door. Eat in or takeout (containers provided).

St. Patrick Church, 1420 Oak Hill Ave., Youngstown, will sponsor its monthly Sauce and Song event with a spaghetti dinner and concert by the Canfield Community Band. Dinner will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the concert is set for 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Menu includes spaghetti, salad, bread, dessert and beverage. Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children age 10 and under. Carryout will be available with containers provided. The concert is free and open to the community. Donations accepted. TAKING ORDERS

Girard First United Methodist Church, 22 N. Market St., is taking orders for individual ham loaves for $2.50 each. Orders are due by Friday by calling the church office at 330-545-4361. Pickup will be from noon to 3 p.m. May 13 in the church’s fellowship hall.

St. George Croatian Center, 3200 Vestal Road, Youngstown, is taking orders for chicken noodle soup, green bean soup and potato soup. Cost is $6 per quart. Orders must be received May 17 by calling Tim Komara at 330-519-9036. Pickup will take place from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. May 22.

Calvary United Methodist Church, 12062 South Ave., North Lima, will host its monthly drive through chicken dinner from 3 to 6 p.m. May 9 or until sold out. Cost is $7 and includes stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and a brownie. Pull up to the door and someone will deliver the dinners to the vehicle. Cortland United Methodist Church, 155 N. High St., will host its 20th annual Kentucky Mountain Dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. May 18. Menu includes sweet potato casserole, honey baked ham, Kentucky corn bread, creamed chicken on homemade biscuits, green beans, bean soup, cobbler or derby pie and a beverage. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children age 3 to 12. Proceeds benefit the mission trip to Red Bird Mission in Beverly, Ky.

St. James the Apostle Parish, 4019 state Route 422, Pulaski, Pa., will host John’s Breakfast Brunch from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 12. Breakfast includes French toast, sweet cheese filling, buttermilk and buckwheat pancakes with a choice of maple or peach syrup, scrambled eggs, eggs scrambled with peppers, onions and cheese, bacon, sausage, ham, home fries, toast, fresh cinnamon rolls, hot and cold cereals, coffee, tea, juices and milk. Cost is $9 for adults and $4 for children.

Smith Corners United Methodist Church, 3000 S. Canfield-Niles Road, Austintown, will host a free pancake, sausage and egg breakfast from 9 to 11 a.m. May 11. Donations will be accepted, and proceeds will benefit World Service Projects.

VFW Post 2799 Auxiliary will sponsor a spaghetti dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. May 9 at the post home, 3161 E. South Range Road, New Springfield. Menu includes spaghetti, meatballs, salad, Italian bread, coffee or tea. Cost is $7 for adults and $3.50 for children under 12.
