Rosta dominates in MMA pro debut

TEMECULA, CALIF.

New Castle, Pa., native Dalton Rosta won in his professional MMA debut Friday night.

Rosta scored a first-round knockout of Cody Vidal during a fight card at Pechanga Resort and Casino. Vidal (1-2) is a native of Murrieta, Calif.

Trainer Sammy Calderon said Rosta dominated the bout from the opening bell.

“He took his time and eventually took him out,” Calderon said.

Rosta signed with Bellator MMA in January after going 7-0 as an amateur. According to Tapology, Rosta was the No. 1 ranked amateur light heavyweight in Ohio, Pennsylvania, the midwest and northeast at the time of his signing.

Rosta won amateur titles at Pinnacle FC, Rivers Rumble and BCM Promotions, earning the 2018 Bluegrass MMA Amateur Knockout of the Year award for his finish of Devon Harrell at Rivers Rumble in July.

Calderon said Rosta’s next fight will be determined by Bellator MMA.
