Kent State earns first program victory

Kent

The Kent State lacrosse team rang the victory bell on Friday as it earned its first win in program history and first win at Dix Stadium with a 21-6 victory over Delaware State (1-5).

Eight Golden Flashes scored in the game as Brianne Tierney secured her first win at Kent State and her first win as a Division-I head coach.

“This win is our first ever and well-earned by a young but tenacious group,” said Tierney. “I am thrilled that they had the first of many under their belts, and I look forward to building on this success. We are going to focus back on executing our details and look forward to competing again on Sunday.”

The Flashes (1-10) shot out of the gates, jumping to a quick 3-0 lead behind goals from Graceyn Dean, Megan Kozar and Abby Jones. The two teams traded goals before Kent State went on a 14-0 run over the next 30 minutes of action.
