The Mill Creek MetroParks hosted the Crafty Critters event on Feb. 28.

According to naturalist Arika Preas, the program is a new winter event for families to enjoy.

The program has no age range, but Preas said it is geared towards children under 5.

“We don’t have a lot of children’s programs during the colder months, so this is a fun way for people to come out and enjoy the park even when it’s cold,” Preas said.

During the event Preas has a range of activities for children to try.

Coloring pages depicting orchards were available.

Community members were also able to create a pine cone owl with supplies provided by the park.

“It’s just a fun way to involve younger community members during the slower months at the park,” Preas said.

The event ran from 1-4 p.m. at the library in Fellows Riverside Gardens.

Preas said this will be the last event for this season, but it will likely start again in November.
