Brown to be recommended for West Branch coaching job

BELOIT

West Branch Local School District Superintendent Timothy Saxton plans to recommend Michael Brown to the Board to Education as the next boys basketball coach at today’s board meeting.

Brown works at West Branch Middle School as a science and mathematics teacher. He has worked as an assistant varsity basketball coach at Louisville and West Branch. Brown has served as the Warriors’ golf coach. He coached West Branch to a Northeastern Buckeye Conference NBC Title and was named the NBC Coach of the Year in 2017. He is a graduate of Louisville and Tiffin University, where he was a three-year team captain in basketball.

“I am thankful for the opportunity to make an impact in our community both as a teacher and head basketball coach. We have great kids, staff and administration here at West Branch,” Brown said. “I have high expectations and a positive vision for where the West Branch Local School District is heading and am proud to represent a community that loves their student athletes.”

Saxton said the applicant pool was strong, however, Brown stood out and he is confident he will be successful as the new leader of the boys basketball program.

“Mike did an outstanding job during the selection process,” Saxton said. “He is a talented educator and has a love of the game, fantastic rapport with students, and organizational skills to be successful. His dedication to the West Branch community is apparent and he will continue to work effortlessly on the behalf of our boys basketball program.”
