Dom Magliocca knocked home the winning run in the fourth inning. Brayden Beck struck out two in five innings to get the win for the Cardinals. Tyler Peterson struck out four in five innings of work for the Spartans.

BEAVER TOWNSHIP

Jake Gehring and Trey Pancake combine to toss a two-hitter for the Raiders (1-0, 1-0 Northeast 8). Gehring struck out eight and walked none in six innings. Austin Vogt took the loss for the Bulldogs, striking out seven and walking one.

Bristol 10, McDonald 2

BRISTOLVILLE

Bristol’s Matt Church allowed on hit over the final four innings of the contest, walking one and striking out four. At the plate, he added a two-run double and scored three runs. Mike Wiebe and Seth Mooney each had two hits, with Mooney collecting four RBIs. Logan Shields hit a one-run double for McDonald. Ryan Scala up one earned run on six hits, walked four and struck out five in 5.2 innings to take the loss. The Blue Devils had six errors.

Niles 6, Hubbard 3

HUBBARD

Ken Flanigan’s hit drove in two runs for the Red Dragons. Also with hits were Zach Leonard, Joe Gallo and Corbin Foy. For the Eagles, Lukas Mosora had two hits while Shannon Slovesko and Joey Barr each drove in a run.

Mathews 9, Newton Falls 4

VIENNA

Adam Wibert’s four hits included a triple and two doubles for the Mustangs (1-0). He also drove in four runs. Jackson Iceman hit a two-run double and was the winning pitcher. Jon Goff and Ethan hall each had two hits. Jackson-Milton 10, Badger 4

KINSMAN

Nick Rich had two hit, two RBIs and two runs scored for the Blue Jays (1-0). Frankie Prozy and Joey Williams each drove in three runs. Williams was the winning pitcher, striking out four and walking four. For the Braves (0-1), Logan Lendak had two hits.

United 5, Lisbon 0

LISBON

Winning pitcher Shane Black struck out 10 to earn the win. He scattered six hits. Black also drove in the game-winning run and Parker Hydrick had two hits. Josh Entrikin had two hits for the Blue Devils.

Lowellville 13, Campbell 2

CAMPBELL

Micah Mamula-Zarlingo had two hits and scored three runs for the Rockets (1-0). Bryan Harris added two hits and pitched three scoreless innings for the win. Cole Bunofsky added four RBIs for Lowellville. Mike Torres had a base hit and RBI for the Red Devils (0-1).

Columbiana 5, East Palestine 2

COLUMBIANA

Chase Franken pitched a three-hitter, allowing just two unearned runs and struck out 11 as the Clippers (1-0, 1-0 Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference) won their opener. Wayne Davis doubled home a run for Columbiana in the second inning and later scored on a wild pitch. Ryan Fahs added an RBI single in the fourth and Evan Kenneally scored on a wild pitch.

Girard 8, Struthers 2

STRUTHERS

Nick DeGregory allowed just two hits and struck out seven in five innings for the win. Matt Miles finished the game for the Indians. Braydon Freeland had three hits for Girard. DeGregory had two hits. Billy Opritza let the Wildcats (0-1) with two hits.

Warren JFK 6, Heartland Christian 0

COLUMBIANA

The Eagles’ A.J. Arp struck out 13 and allowed only one hit and a walk in a season-opening victory for Warren JFK (1-0). Aaron Gault had the only hit for the Lions (0-1).

Ursuline 12, Newton Falls 2

YOUNGSTOWN

Emma Ericson pitched a three-hitter, struck out seven and hit two doubles for the Irish in a six-inning victory. Maris Barbato had a triple and two singles and Destiny Goodnight also had three hits for Ursuline. Julia Nutter singled and tripled and had 4 RBIs and Gia Caldrone and Alyssa Sheely each had two hits for the Irish (1-0). The Tigers (0-1) scored their runs in the third when Olivia Valot tripled, Emily Knight singled her home and Tara Backherms delivered an RBI double.

Girard 14, Struthers 7

GIRARD

Seyhan Dede had three hits and two RBIs and Kaitlyn Culver singled, doubled and scored three runs in the Indians’ victory. Emily Semple added two hits and three RBIs for Girard. Nicolina Pezzone had two hits, including a double, and Renee Leonard had three hits for the Wildcats.

Lowellville 10, Campbell 0

LOWELLVILLE

Madison Kelly fired a five-inning no-hitter with 11 strikeouts as the Rockets won the opener. Kelly did not walk a batter. Brittany Chaibi led Lowellville with two hits, two RBIs andf two runs scored. Red Devils pitcher Lucia Opencar allowed six hits and struck out five.

Austintown Fitch 12, Ashtabula Lakeside 2

AUSTINTOWN

Lydia Spalding struck out 11 and pitched a two-hitter over 51/3 innings. The Falcons (1-0, 1-0 All-American Conference Red Tier) walked 10 times and banged out 12 hits. Lainie Simons, Ryleight Morgan and Elyssa Molody all hit home runs for Fitch. Simons’ homer was a three-run shot. Molody also had a single. Spalding doubled twice and drove in two runs and Maddy Taylor singled and doubled. Sidney Griffith had both hits for the Dragons (0-1, 0-1) with a double and a home run.

Canfield 11, Boardman 9

BOARDMAN

The Cardinals overcame a 7-1 deficit thanks in large part to a five-run fourth inning and went on to beat the Spartans. Kalin Kovach singled and homered for Canfield (2-0), while Brooke Crissman, Sarah Ferraro and Amber Rose also had two hits each. Crissman drove in two runs and Rose had a double. Madi Kelly worked four innings, struck out two and allowed four hits for the win. M. Lester had two hits and scored three runs for Boardman (0-1).

Cardinal Mooney 19, Windham 2

WINDHAM

Gia Difabio had a grand slam and drove in five runs as the Cardinals (1-0) rolled over the host Bombers largely on the strength of a 12-run inning. Eight Cardinal Mooney players had multiple hits, including CJ Sapp and Maddie Filisky with four each. Sapp whacked two triples. Carley Francis, Conchetta Rinaldi, Caitie Perry, Brooke Chandler and Alaina Scavina each had two hits. Filisky struck out five and scattered five hits for the win. Missy Berondelli doubled and McKenzie McClean sinlged twice for Windham.

South Range 10, Lakeview 2

BEAVER TOWNSHIP

Bree Kohler struck out 15, didn’t walk a batter and pitched a three-hitter as the Raiders rolled over the Bulldogs in Northeast 8 Conference play. Kohler also homered and drove in five runs. Her three-run homer got South Range’s offense going and she later drove in runs with a squeeze bunt and a fielder’s choice. Marlaina Slabach singled twice for the Raiders (1-0). Cait Kelm hit a solo home run for Lakeview (0-1).

Hubbard 23, Niles 2

HUBBARD

Hubbard scored 13 runs in the third inning. Sydney Bowser had a team-high four hits. Jackie Adler hit a two-run double. Grace Narkum a triple and Alexis Najdusak had a team-best four RBIs.

WARREN

Katie Mitchell collected four RBIs on two hits for Jackson-Milton. Abby Spalding had two hits, a triple and an RBI and Lynzi Satterlee hit two doubles. Dana Saunders and Camryn Mitchell each had a double.

M. Emmerling tossed a one-hitter for the Blue Devils, striking out nine and walking none. K. Clark drove in six runs while Autumn Oehlstrom and M. Dailey each drove in four. Oehlstrom homered, tripled and doubled. J. Vrable hit two triples.
