Shepherd of the Valley residents use story telling app

Shepherd of the Valley has partnered with OneDay, an instant video platform, to digitally preserve the stories of residents at its four campuses across the Mahoning Valley. OneDay’s mobile app is an interactive, personalized storytelling tool allowing Shepherd of the Valley staff to capture resident stories and video content. Residents can choose a topic and Shepherd of the Valley staff can record them answering a few questions about it using an iOS or Android device.

The video clips are then compiled into a short video that can be immediately shared with family members via email or text. The videos are preserved on residents’ individual My Story pages and are made available to families long after their loved one has passed.

“The Shepherd of the Valley and OneDay partnership will enable residents, staff and families to build better relationships, improve social connections and provide person-centered care services. This tool will be available to all residents of Shepherd of the Valley. We want to give them the ability to share their stories or an important message with their loved ones,” said Shepherd’s CEO, Rich Limongi.

There have already been many successes utilizing the app, and family member response has been positive and the app allows families to send messages back to the resident in response.

“We are thrilled at the opportunity to instantly preserve residents’ life stories and strengthen connections between their loved ones using OneDay. Our staff is having a lot of fun creating these memories that will be able to be cherished by the families we work with. Our goal is to enable a new aging experience by improving the way stories are shared throughout the community,” Corporate Director of Marketing, Sales and Communication Danielle Procopio said.
