Children celebrated St. Patrick’s Day at the Poland library on March 16.

Community members gathered in the morning to play games, listen to stories and celebrate the holiday.

“It’s just a fun way to kick off St. Patrick’s day weekend,” said librarian Jane Adams.

Adams organized the event, kicking it off by reading a number of holiday themed stories to the children. She said that the crowd favorite was the book “Pete the Cat: The Great Leprechaun Chase” by James Dean.

After reading stories, children enjoyed group games and enjoyed a variety of snacks. Adams also organized a craft for those gathered at the event, where children could decorate St. Patrick’s Day bracelets.

“We just want it to be a fun family friendly event,” Adams said.

Children were also able to play pin the shamrock on Pete the Cat and ball toss during the event. For more information on upcoming library events, visit www.libraryvisit.org.
