For the third year, Canfield Local Schools partnered with the Canfield library to host an art show in February to showcase students’ work.

The show opened on Feb. 21, with a opening night reception at the library. The artwork was on display during library hours from Feb. 21-24.

Approximately 100 pieces of art, in a variety of mediums, were on display and were pulled from several students from Hilltop Elementary School, C.H. Campbell Elementary School, Canfield Village Middle School and Canfield High School.

The show was organized by Kate Antal and Kevin Hoopes, CHS art teachers, in conjunction with Linda Kucalaba, Canfield library supervisor. Diane Leonard is the art teacher at Hilltop Elementary and C.H. Campbell Elementary. Heidi Garwig is the Canfield Village Middle School art teacher.

“We are so happy to be able to continue to do this show at the library. They are happy to have us,” Antal said.

Kucalaba agreed with Antal and thanked her for starting the show three years ago.

“We are thrilled to partner with the schools to showcase the students’ art. They are so talented. They are just amazing. With this show, it’s nice to be able to watch the progression of the students from elementary school to high school. Thank you to Kate for having the idea to start this show three years ago. It doesn’t get any better than to be able to partner with the schools,” Kucalaba said.

Kucalaba also said the show gives the community an idea of what the schools are doing.

“This show is all about getting the kindergarten through twelfth-grade art work out there to show the community what a strong art program Canfield Local Schools has to offer,” Kucalaba said.

Light refreshments of Dough House Cookies and lemonade were provided by the library.
