The Congregational Life Committee of the Canfield United Methodist Church hosted a chili cook-off on Feb. 24.

Attendees could taste eight chilis and vote on their favorite with a secret ballot.

Members of the committee, including Judy Capirano, Jill Kercher and Phil and Denise May, served the chili in small bowls for tasting and attendees could come back for a big bowl of their favorite after they voted.

“We asked people to bring their favorite chili recipes and we would vote on our favorites. We wanted to offer an opportunity for everyone to get together after church to visit and enjoy fellowship and good food,” Capirano said.

The eight contestants went all out to win votes, providing toppings such as Fritos, sour cream and cheese. Corn bread muffins were also on the menu, along with cookies for dessert.
