Penguins finish 11th in Tennessee tourney


SMYRNA, Tenn.

The Youngstown State bowling team tied a school record for highest Baker game on Sunday and finished the Columbia 300 Music City Classic in 11th place at the Smyrna Bowling Center.

The Penguins went 1-2 in bracket play on the final day of competition to drop two positions down to 11th.

YSU bowled its 258 against No. 16 Central Missouri but was outlasted by the Jennies in seven games. Youngstown State then lost 4-1 to No. 23 Louisiana Tech before ending the weekend with a 4-1 victory over No. 9 Saint Francis.

Vanderbilt hosted the tournament.

Youngstown State will bowl in its first conference tournament in program history this weekend as it heads to Dallas for the Southland Bowling League Championship.
