Fun Run & Walk planned for Sunday

The City of Youngstown and the Youngstown Events and Citywide Special Projects will host the inaugural Youngstown St. Paddy’s Day Fun Run & Walk on Sunday. In preparation for this event, Phelps Street between Commerce Street and Federal Street will close Saturday at 8 a.m. until Monday at 3 a.m. The run will start in the heart of downtown and continue through the Northside. Anyone who would like to participate can pick up a pre-registration form at V2, 100 W. Federal St., and return the form there as well. Pre-registration forms can also be found at the Fast Trac Facebook page. Registration on the day of the race will take place from 8 to 9:15a.m. inside V2. The pre-registration fee is $20, which includes a T-shirt and increases to $25 on the day of the event. Participants will receive a T-shirt on the day of if supplies last. T-shirts come with vouchers for offers at participating restaurants and bars. Strollers are permitted as long as they are lined up toward the back of the starting line for congestion purposes. The event is sponsored by Fast Trac and proceeds will benefit Akron Children’s Hospital. Checks can be made out to Akron Children’s Hospital. Call 330-759-4570 for information.
