The Canfield Village Middle School eighth-grade girls basketball team celebrated their 2019 AAC championship by cutting down the net in the gym where they cemented their place in school history on Feb. 18.

The basketball team is back-to-back AAC champions, having also won the title last year as seventh-graders.

Team members are Emme Rubin, Carlie Harmon, Ali Crist, Emma Campbell, Haydyn Merritt, Gianna Snyder, Mackenzie Koenig, Gianna Pannunzio, Delaney O’Brien, Cara Spencer, Ava Nohra, Bella Kennedy, Abby Muckleroy, Kate Sahli and Maddie McCartney.

The team went undefeated this season with a record of 14-0 under Coach Jim Harmon.

Friends and families of the team members gathered to watch the players each cut a piece of the basketball net as a keepsake of their championship win. The rest of the net will be placed in the school’s trophy case along with a team picture and a basketball signed by all the players.
