Eastern Gateway sweeps doubleheader


VERO BEACH, FLA.

The Eastern Gateway Community College baseball team swept a doubleheader from Bay Community College of Escanaba. Mich., on Wednesday, winning the opener 13-1 and the nightcap 11-3 at the Dodgertown Baseball Complex.

In the opening game, Gators pitcher Dylan Dickey (1-2) picked up his first win with six strong innings, striking out seven and allowing just four hits for EGCC (3-4).

Zach Johnson had three hits, including a three-run home run and four RBIs, Noah Laster singled an tripled and Jeremiah Papa singled, doubled and scored twice. Evan Knaus scored four times for the Gators.

Laster singled, doubled twice and scored three runs in the second game. Andrew Wess also had three hits, including two doubles, and drove in three runs. Bene Pomales added singled and tripled for the Gators.

EGCC will play a doubleheader against the Ontario Blue Jays beginning at noon today at Dodgertown.
