OXFORD
The Youngstown State baseball team dropped three games on Sunday against Miami.
The first game was the completion of Saturday’s suspended game, a 5-2 win for the Redhawks.
Jeff Wehler went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles, and Trevor Wiersma recorded his team-leading ninth RBI of the season with a base hit. Dylan Swarmer also singled while Phillip Glasser walked twice and scored both YSU runs. Zach Lopatka walked twice and stole a base while Blaze Glenn swiped his third bag of the campaign.
The Penguins went on to lose 9-1 and 11-1 in the scheduled doubleheader.
Lucas Nasonti had a pair of hits in both games from the leadoff spot in the lineup for the Penguins, who were swept in the four-game series by the Redhawks. Wehler had an RBI single in game one, and Glasser hit an RBI triple in game two.
Youngstown State will play five road games this week, the final three of which will be Horizon League contests. The Penguins will play at Kent State on Tuesday at 4 p.m., and they’ll be at Pittsburgh on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
The conference slate will commence on Friday at 3 p.m. in game one of a three-game series at Northern Kentucky.
