DIVISION II

Beaver Local — Freshman Logan Ours (120) made it all the way to the state semifinals before falling to Louisville’s Garrett Lautzenheiser, 7-1. While Skyler Lasure (145) is out of championship contention, he can still get third place after a 6-4 sudden victory against Southeast’s Kaleb Dohse and a 7-0 win against Indian Valley’s Adam Lenhoff. Mark Emmerling (113) and Garrett Givens (220) were eliminated.

Canfield — Ben Cutrer (170) and Nick Barber (106) both dropped into the consolation bracket and were eliminated. Barber was knocked out by St. Paris Graham’s Nolan Gessler with a 1-0 defeat. Cutrer took a 5-2 loss to Urbana’s Trevor Stewart. David Reinhart (160) was thrown in the final seconds of his consolation bout for an 8-4 loss to Goshen’s Zach Dunn to get knocked out of the tournament.

West Branch — Neil Ginnetti (182) became the lone Warriors wrestler to place in exciting fashion, rallying from a 3-1 deficit with less than 30 seconds to go against Mentor Lake Catholic’s Dorian Gridiron in a consolation bout. Ginnetti landed a near-fall with three seconds left to win, 6-3. He’s wrestling for seventh place after getting pinned by Dayton Chaminade Julienne’s Hunter Johns. Kenny Marra (195) was eliminated after getting pinned by Wapakoneta’s Trevor Plougher.

DIVISION III

Liberty — Zion Matlock (160) was eliminated after a 12-2 loss to Massillon Tuslaw’s Kyle Rider. He was Liberty’s first state qualifier since 2001.

South Range — Kyle Keenan (126) became the first state placer for his school since Max Brooke in 2012 when he took a 1-0 win against Marion Pleasant’s Carter Chase. A loss to Newcomerstown’s Gavin Weaver has him wrestling for seventh place.

“It’s not necessarily where I wanted to be, but I’m happy to be on the podium,” Keenan said. “My bigger goal is to see how high I can get on the podium. I’m not going to say it sucks to wrestle for seventh, but I know if things were a little different, I’d be higher.”

Anthony Czap (220) pinned Shanandoah’s Dalton Rice to clinch a spot on the podium and is in contention for third after beating Troy Christian’s Nick Baker, 8-7. Michael Markulin (120) was eliminated following a 16-5 loss to Pemberville Eastwood’s Brandon Hahn.
