Altrusa Club of Youngstown will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Holiday Inn in Boardman. Guest speaker Marcus Hernandez will discuss a kindergarten through fifth-grade school in the Dominican Republic, and a business meeting will follow. Friendly Squares Dance Club will host a dance from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Niles SCOPE Center, 14 E. State St., Niles. Gene Hammond will be the caller, and Frankie Hammond will cue the line dances. This will be a high/low dance with alternating tips for new dancers currently taking lessons and tips for more experienced dancers. Dress is casual, and light refreshments will be served. Tri-Gold Prime Time Chapter of ABWA will have luncheon at A La Cart Catering in Canfield at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Lunch will be served at 1:15. A buffet menu of creamed chicken on biscuit, Swiss steak, parsley potatoes, peas and carrots, tossed salad and ice cream with syrup will be available. Cost is $18. Trumbull County Travel Club will sponsor a motor coach mini vacation to Holland, Mich., from May 7 to 9. Holland, located on Lake Macatawa, plants millions of blooming tulips which will greet members in this town named the “Best Small Town Festival” in the USA. Reflecting on the area’s Dutch heritage, Windmill Island is on the agenda as well as the DeKlomp Wooden Shoe & Delft Factory tour. There will be time to experience traditional Klompen, photograph the Big Red Lighthouse and sit in comfortable seats for the Volks-parade. Two breakfasts and two dinners are included along with the Fiddle Fire Show and the Dazzle Dinner Theater. The Travel Club is open to anyone who wishes to travel and make new friends. There are no fees to join. The club has been together since 2000 and consists of people over 21. Members meet twice a year at area sites to discuss upcoming trips. All trips leave from one site and use motor coaches, trains, air and sometimes incorporate cruises. USA Dance will host its Samba and Shenanigans Party from 5 to 9 p.m. March 17 at the Orthodox Center, 1025 N. Belle Vista Ave., Youngstown. The event will feature basics for beginners, samba lessons sponsored by Jessica Ruff of A Time to Dance Studio and open dancing to ballroom, Latin, swing and hustle from 6:15 to 9 p.m. Cost is $5 for members, $10 for nonmembers and $2.50 for students. Trumbull County Republican Party will host its monthly breakfast at 9 a.m. March 16 at the Buckeye Club, 366 N. Park, Warren. There will be a full-course buffet breakfast. Cost is $12. Mercer County Historical Society, 119 South Pitt St., Mercer, Pa., will offer a program about the Battle of Chancellorsville on Tuesday. Youngstown Area PFLAG (Parents, Families, Friends, and Allies) is a support, education and advocacy group united with LGBT people to move equality forward.
