Evening with the Easter Bunny
Boardman Park will present an evening with the Easter Bunny from 5:30-7:30 p.m. April 10 and 11. Tickets will go on sale at the park office from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, starting March 11. Tickets may also be obtained by calling the park office at 330-726-8105 to pay by credit card, or online at www.boardmanpark.com. Tickets are $7 for Boardman residents and $9 for non-residents. Children 2 and under are free. The evening includes dinner, arts and crafts and a family photo with the Easter Bunny.
Paws Town at Boardman Park
Enjoy the benefits of the outdoors by joining the Marge Hartman’s Paws Town Dog Park at Boardman Park. The 3.25-acre fenced in dog park has separate fenced in areas for large and small dogs, water fountains, a dog wash station, benches, small shade trees and dog waste bags. One year memberships to Paws Town are available for 2019-20 and will be valid from date of purchase through March 31, 2020. Membership costs for Boardman residents are $40 for one dog and $10 for each additional dog. Non-Boardman resident fees are $65 for one dog and $10 for each additional dog. Membership packets may be picked up at the Boardman park office from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, in the outdoor literature boxes at the dog park or online at boardmanpark.com. One day passes are also available for $5. Bring your dog’s shot records on veterinarian letter head, rabies and county tag numbers. Cardinal Mooney High School announces 16th annual “Celebrate Mooney” auction
Cardinal Mooney High School has set the date for its 16th annual fundraising auction as April 13. The largest fundraising event of the year will take place at the school, located at 2545 Erie St, Youngstown, between 5:30 and 11 p.m. Cocktails and silent auction to begin at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. This year’s honorary chairwoman is CMHS teacher, mentor and Cardinals sports enthusiast, Nancy Shugart. YWCA accepting entries for 37th annual Women’s Art Exhibition
YWCA Mahoning Valley is accepting entries for its 37th Annual Women Artists: A Celebration! Art Show to take place June 28 through July 26 at YWCA’s downtown Youngstown office, located at 25 W. Rayen Ave. The art exhibition showcases work by local, regional and national women artists. The juried show features all media, including paintings, drawings, photographs, fiber art, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, videography and metal work. Returning for a second time is a juried show for young women ages 14-17 from Mahoning and Trumbull counties. The show will feature seventeen works selected by jurors from the YWCA Women Artists Committee and will run in conjunction with the Women Artists show. Two-dimensional work is eligible for the 17 Under 17 show. ‘The Twilight Zone’ comes to Canfield

Gathering Place event on March 11
There will be a Gathering Place event on March 11 at 11 a.m. at Lord of Life Church, located at 550 N. Broad St. in Canfield. Local church offers egg drop and hunt
There will be a free giant egg drop and Easter egg hunt at Canfield Presbyterian Church on March 30 from 10 a.m. until noon. This event is free and open to the public. Children will enjoy a puppet show, Easter egg hunt and can participate in building an egg protection unit to protect a raw egg from drops of 6, 15, and 40 feet. Light refreshments are also provided. Cleveland rent-to-own expert Matt Reed is poised to share his blueprint for success with investors. Friendly Squares March square dance
The Friendly Squares will host their monthly square dance on March 9 from 7:30-10 p.m. at the Niles SCOPE Center, located at 14 E. State St. in Niles. Gene Hammond will be the caller and Frankie Hammond will be cuing line dances. ABWA chapter to meet
The Mill Creek Chapter of ABWA (American Business Women’s Association) will host its March 12 meeting at Johnny’s Restaurant in Boardman. All Inclusive Egg Hunt offered on April 7
Rulli Bros. Market, located at 8025 South Ave. in Boardman, will be the location for the second annual All Inclusive Egg Hunt. The egg hunt will take place on April 7, beginning at 2 p.m. The egg hunt is open to children in the Mahoning County, and there will be an alternative egg hunt for children with special needs inside of the store. Concert to benefit Operation Blessing
The Canfield Community Concert Band will present a concert of American music to benefit Canfield’s Operation Blessing. This free concert will take place on March 10 at 3 p.m. in the Canfield High School auditorium, located at 100 Cardinal Drive. The program will feature the music of Bernstein, Copland, Ticheli, Jenkins, Smith and Fillmore. Donations of cash and non-perishable food will be accepted at the door to support Operation Blessing’s mission to help those in need in the community. The Canfield Community Concert Band is a group of volunteer musicians that enjoy making music and sharing it with the community. In addition to this annual benefit concert, the band performs regularly throughout the summer at outdoor venues and at nursing homes during the holiday season. The library’s kindergarten readiness stations are in every library branch and feature fun activities for you and your preschool child to complete together. For the month of March, stations focus on mathematics. Early math skills include counting, recognizing numerals, sorting and classifying objects, and creating patterns. Adams named national winner of the 2019 Excellence in EFNEP Award
Robin Adams has been named the 2019 National Excellence in EFNEP Award winner. Adams will receive the award at a recognition celebration at the 2019 EFNEP Annual Conference in Washington, D.C. on March 12. Adams is known in Mahoning County for successfully teaching EFNEP nutrition education classes to limited resource families and her work in food security issues. She is employed by the Ohio State University Extension office in Canfield. The Excellence in EFNEP Award recognizes outstanding teaching, creativity to improve program reach and effectiveness in EFNEP programming and positive influence in the community.
Friends of the Library Mah Jongg Tournament fundraiser
The Friends of the Library- Canfield Committee will host a Mah Jongg Tournament fundraiser on March 19 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at A La Cart Catering in Canfield. The event begins with brunch and raffle ticket sales before tourney play. It closes with sweets and the announcement of game and raffle winners. The top three players receive cash prizes. A juried fine arts show is being planned for August in Canfield and organizers are looking for additional help. Arts on the Commons is planned for Aug. 3-10. The committee is searching for enthusiastic, organized individuals, whether or not they have a background in fine arts. Arts on the Commons will be soliciting nationally for entrants for the show.
