Cleveland heavyweights Patrick Failor and Bryan Gedeon will meet for the Lake Erie Masters championship Saturday, highlighting action at the 15-bout amateur “Fight Night at Se7en Nightclub” show, 1743 S. Raccoon Road.
Presented by Mike Owens Construction and Lights Out Management, in conjunction with Magilla’s and East Side Civics, the night will feature four area fighters representing Downtown Boxing Club, South Side B.C., Burnside Athletic Club.
New Castle, Pa.’s, Phil Frasso and Chris Hill round out the local contingent.
“This card is highly competitive while the night will feature some of the very best up-and-coming talent from Ohio and Pennsylvania,” matchmaker Tom Cordell said. “It’s always a fun night when you pair boxers from Cleveland and Pittsburgh, a rivalry that is one of the very best in all of sports.
“Expect a real battle from both Patrick Failor and Bryan Gedeon with the Lake Erie Master’s heavyweight title on the line. Both fighters are hard hitters and know their way around the ring.”
Fighters from Akron, Canton, Columbus and Toledo also are well-represented.
One local pairing has Zion Rushton of Downtown B.C. going up against Canton’s Hunter McGrath in a 170-pound scrap. Austin Gibson of Burnside A.C. is set to meet Canton’s Jakob Condon at 165-pounds.
In one co-main event, Gibson’s stable mate Nate Cordova takes on Nate Willingham of Downtown B.C. in a 147-pound pairing, while at 120-pounds, South Side’s Terrell Richards is ready for a challenge from Frasso.
Chris Hill will meet Jalen Hill of Columbus in a 140-pound match-up.
The other co-main will feature Akron’s Kemp Tarver against Jerome Baxter of Pittsburgh in a 140-pound pairing.
“Each fight is evenly matched with every fighter set and ready to go,” Lights Out’s Mike Cefalde said. “The card features several area notable boxers and those attending the show are going to enjoy our new venue.”
