Emma Gumont had a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds and Abby White added 12 — all on 3-pointers — as the Golden Flashes dominated their All-American Conference rivals in a district final at Lakeview High School. Champion (20-5) also picked a up a double-double from Brooke Whitt (10 points, 10 rebounds) in earning a regional berth. The Golden Flashes will face Doylestown Chippewa in a semifinal Wednesday at 6:15 p.m. at Cuyahoga Falls High School. The winner will meet the winner of the other semifinal between Southeast and North Ridgeville in a regional final at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. LaBrae (16-8) was led by Marissa Roberts, who had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Girard boys finish fifth in Div. II state tournament
COLUMBUS
The Girard boys bowling team won the Division II state tournament on Saturday at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl. St. Mary’s Memorial beat Plain City Jonathan Alder in the final. The Indians also finished by third place Mechanicsburg and Woodgridge. The Indians finished first in qualifying with 3,715 pins, but fell to Woodridge in the first round. Nathan Moore led the Indians with 668 pints. He finished 12th in individual scoring. One spot behind was Dylan Puz with 662, Logan Barta finished 14th with 660. Donny Bishop finished 31th 619 and Jonathan Moore was 61st with 556. The Indians finished fourth at state last season.

East’s Bowers, Chaney boys win at state meet
GENEVA
East senior Jahniya Bowers picked up two state titles and a state record to help her team win an OATCCC Division 2-3 indoor track state title on Saturday at the SPIRE Institute. Chaney’s boys 4x400 relay team also took first. Bowers, a Youngstown State commit for track, won the 60-meter dash with record-setting time of 7.49 seconds. She beat Brittani Mason’s of 7.56 in 2016 while running for West Geauga. She also won the 200 with a time of 24.65.Teammate Kyndia Matlock took third in both the 60 and 200. East’s 4x200 relay squad of Matlock, Laniya Lewis, Ayana Dixon and DeShante Allen took second, finishing less than two seconds behind first-place Buchtel. Allen finished the long jump in third place with her best leap coming at 5.20 meters. The final team score for East wasn’t reported.Chaney’s 4x400 relay squad won with a time of 3:29.72, but as of press time, the names of all the runners were not reported.
