The Canfield library hosted Slime Time for Tweens on Jan. 26.

Led by youth services librarian Romie Policy, attendees could choose to make unicorn slime, fluffy slime, galaxy slime, clear slime or glow-in-the-dark slime.

“The beautiful thing about slime is it does not always go well the first time and that’s okay. Part of the fun is figuring out the right recipe and just kind of playing around with it,” Policy said.

Policy had stations set up for each type of slime and included the recipes on the tables. All supplies and ingredients were provided.

Each slime had a distinct ingredient which made it special, such as unicorn slime required glitter glue, fluffy slime required shaving cream, galaxy slime required food coloring and glitter, clear slime required clear glue and glow-in-the-dark slime required glow-in-the-dark paint.

Policy gave tips and tricks to attendees as they made their slime.

“To make it extra stretchy, mix some water with some glue and that will make it really stretchy,” Policy said.

Policy also had several books available about slime, such as “The Slime Book,” “Slime 101” and “Ultimate Slime” that the children could look at and check out to take home.

Attendees could choose two slimes to make and were given a container to take their finished product home.

Everyone enjoyed a light snack of cookies and juice after they finished making their slime and had washed their sticky, slimey hands.
