Leah Sakacs, will speak about the retired and senior volunteer program for Mahoning and Trumbull counties. Mahoning Valley Amateur Radio Association is celebrating 100 years of amateur radio this year. The club is asking any former members or anyone with information about former members to reply. Mill Creek Chapter of ABWA will meet March 12 at Johnny’s Restaurant in Boardman. Networking will take place at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 6:30. Menu includes Italian roasted chicken, stuffed shells, sausage and peppers, Italian roasted potatoes, buttered green beans, tossed salad, bread, peppers in oil, dessert, coffee, tea and soft drinks. First Friday Club of Greater Youngstown will host the Rev. James Korda, president of CTNY for the Diocese of Youngstown, at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Avion on the Water Banquet Center, 2177 W. Western Reserve Road, Canfield. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m., and the presentation will begin afterward. The Rev. Friendly Squares Dance Club will host a dance from 7:30 to 10 p.m. March 9 at the Niles SCOPE Center, 14 E. State St., Niles. Gene Hammond will be the caller, and Frankie Hammond will be cuing the line dances. This will be a high/low dance with alternating tips for new dancers currently taking lessons and tips for more experienced dancers. Dress is casual, and light refreshments will be served. Trumbull County Travel Club will sponsor a motor coach mini vacation to Holland, Mich., from May 7 to 9. Holland, located on Lake Macatawa, plants millions of blooming tulips which will greet members in this town named the “Best Small Town Festival” in the USA. Reflecting on the area’s Dutch heritage, Windmill Island is on the agenda as well as the DeKlomp Wooden Shoe & Delft Factory tour. There will be time to experience traditional Klompen, photograph the Big Red Lighthouse and sit in comfortable seats for the Volksparade. Two breakfasts and two dinners are included along with the Fiddle Fire Show and the Dazzle Dinner Theater.The Travel Club is open to any person who wishes to travel and make new friends. There are no fees to join. The club has been together since 2000 and consists of people over 21. Members meet twice a year at area sites to discuss upcoming trips. All trips leave from one site and use motor coaches, trains, air and sometimes incorporate cruising. Trumbull County Republican Party will host its monthly breakfast at 9 a.m. at the Buckeye Club, 366 N. Park, Warren, on March 16. There will be a full-course buffet breakfast. Cost is $12. The guest speaker will be newly-elected state senator from the 33rd District, Michael Rulli. He will discuss a new lake-to-river coalition being created to cultivate the group’s message. Trumbull County Genealogical Society will meet at 10:15 a.m. March 12 in the Thomas Meeting Room at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave., NW, Warren. The topic of the program, which will be presented by Tim Seman, genealogy and local history librarian for the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, will be DNA testing and the process of discovering the level of genetic relationship within family lines. Grief Share program will be hosted by Church Hill United Methodist Church, 189 Churchill-Hubbard Road, Youngstown, Thursdays through May 23. Grief Share is a Christian, Christ-centered program.
