Eagles will host bingo party July 7

GIRARD

Girard Eagles Aerie 2172 and Eagles in District 8 will host its Past-President Bingo Party on July 7 at the hall, 26 W. Wilson Ave. Doors will open at noon, a pasta dinner will be served from noon to 1:30 p.m. and bingo will begin at 2. Cost is $5 and includes one bingo card and dinner. There will be basket and 50-50 raffles and door prizes.

Autism Society to host Camp F.R.I.E.N.D.

The Autism Society of Mahoning Valley was recently awarded a $20,000 grant from the Hine Memorial Fund of The Youngstown Foundation to support the fifth annual Camp F.R.I.E.N.D.: Finding Rewards In Every New Day. This is an inclusive day camp for children, teens, and young adult students with autism and their friends, and will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. July 15 through 19 and Aug. 12 through 16 each day at the YMCA of Youngstown, 17 N. Champion St.

Cost is $150 per student and financial scholarships are available. Registrations forms can be downloaded at AutismMV.org/campfriend and can be mailed by request by sending an email to camp@autismmv.org. The Autism Society is in need of volunteers, interns and neurotypical peers to assist. Donations from individuals and business sponsorships are being accepted to help defer additional costs.

YSU campaign fund grows

John and Nuggie DePizzo, who owned and operated more than 30 senior care facilities across the region and who continue to develop and operate in Southwest Florida, recently donated $1,625,000 to Youngstown State University’s “We See Tomorrow” fundraising campaign. The funds will be used to establish an endowed faculty position in gerontology and to enhance the existing scholarship in the Williamson College of Business Administration.
