The Austintown library hosted a Mommy and Me for Tea event on May 11 to celebrate Mother’s Day.
Librarian Taylor Cowles organized the event.
“It’s a fun event where children get to celebrate Mother’s Day and do something fun together,” Cowles said.
The event was organized for school-age children and their families.
Children and their parents showed up dressed in tea party attire.
They enjoyed snacks of tea, lemonade cookies and muffins throughout the event.
Cowles said she organized crafts for children to do, which could be given as gifts for Mother’s Day.
“Children can make crafts with a lot of cutting and pasting, things that help them develop their fine motor skills,” Cowles said. “I like to have children learning without even realizing it.”
Cowles also organized corn hole and connect four for children and their families to play during the event.
Children were also able to submit a guess to how many marshmallows Cowles placed in a jar to win a prize.
“We have a lot of stuff for children and parents to do together,” Cowles said.
Mothers were able to go home with a personalized gift from their children at the end of the event.
Cowles said that if community members enjoyed the event they can go to doughnuts with dad at the Canfield library around Father’s Day.
