The Poland library hosted a dough making event on May 20 called No Need to Knead.

Community members gathered at the library where librarian Missy Williams organized supplies and instructions for the event.

“I have always loved to bake, I learned how to make bread when I was in high school,” Williams said.

She explained that her interest in baking is what lead her to finding a no-knead bread recipe, and then creating the library program.

“A lot of people don’t realize baking bread is surprisingly easy,” Williams said.

During the event, community members mixed flour, water, yeast and salt together, with all the ingredients provided by the library.

Williams explained the baking process, how to know when the bread was done, and other important information.

Community members brought their own bowls, and left with the ready to bake dough.

Williams also brought samples of the bread that she had previously baked for everyone to try.

She explained that she runs the event a few times a year, with 12 people capable of attending at one time.

“I really enjoy this event, and I like to have it as much as I can,” Williams said.
