Church to host singing group June 30

Grace Lutheran Church, 162 S. Raccoon Road, will host “Renewal,” a gospel singing group June 30.

Flag disposal ceremony planned

Sons of The American Legion Mahoning Valley Squadron 15 will sponsor its 17th annual Flag Disposal Ceremony at 8:45 p.m. Friday at the War Memorial Building Post 15 home, 35 Cortland St.

Participants will learn the proper way to dispose of unserviceable American flags. Flags may be dropped off at the post home prior to the ceremony. The event is in conjunction with the annual Celebrate Poland events, including fireworks at 10 p.m.

Anyone interested in joining American Legion Mahoning Valley Post 15 Inc., American Legion Auxiliary Mahoning Valley Unit 15 or Sons of The American Legion Mahoning Valley Squadron 15 is encouraged to attend.

YBP to host golf outing July 12

VIENNA

The Yellow Brick Place will host its third annual Memorial Golf Outing on July 12 at Avalon at Squaw Creek Golf Course, Youngstown-Kingsville Road SE.

The fundraiser is in memory of Donna Detwiler, YBP co-founder; Jennie Benigas, one of YBP’s first volunteers; and Jim Aleshire, board member and volunteer.

Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9. All proceeds benefit the programs of YBP. Cost is $150 per golfer and includes cart, unlimited use of practice range, locker room access, all amenities the day of the event, breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks. Benefit auction set

YOUNGSTOWN

The Lupo and Holovatick families will host the second annual Rolling for Kensley Bocce Tournament and Basket Auction at 11 a.m. Saturday and June 30 at Crickets Bar & Grille, 1733 E. Midlothian Blvd., to benefit the Cornelia de Lange Syndrome Foundation. The event will include a bocce tournament, auctions, a chicken and rib dinner and live music by Adairs Run on June 30.

Proceeds will go toward Kensley’s medical expenses and the CdLS Foundation. State Sen. Michael Rulli, R-33rd, issued a Senatorial Citation declaring June 29 as Kensley’s Day. Rulli will be presenting the citation to Kensley’s parents, Nicole Lupo and Don Holovatick.
