During 2018, the Salem Rotary Foundation distributed gifts to The United Way Services of Columbiana County, the “pay forward program” of the Salem Rotary Club and the Salem Community Foundation for the Salem Rotary Endowment Fund.
Gifts were received by the Salem Rotary Foundation in memory of Jeff Hendricks, Leah Stubbs, Anthony Mastrangelo and Barry Crowell. Gifts also were received in honor of Dr. Peter L. Apicella, Russell Loudon, Dr. Salvatore C. Apicella and the Salem Rotary Club. The purpose of the foundation is to promote and foster the ideals of Rotary International based on the Four Way Test and to provide charitable gifts to those who practice these ideals. Library offers ukulele kits to patrons
YOUNGSTOWN
The Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County is offering ukulele kits. All participants need is a library card. Kits include the ukulele and case, instruction and music books, extra strings, cleaning cloth and an instructional DVD.
Inside each kit is a list of replacement costs for the various items included. The ukulele kits are housed at the Austintown Library, but the kits can also be sent to a branch near the patron for pick-up. Because the number of kits is limited, a patron can check out one kit at a time for a three week loan period with no renewals. There is a $1 per day fine for late returns. The kits are not available through Search Ohio. Holds may be placed on the ukulele kits if necessary. The ukuleles were donated by Linda Wiland, Richard Wyant and the Steel Valley Ukers.
Scholarship endowment established
YOUNGSTOWN
Garry and Wanda Mrozek, prominent members of the Youngstown business community and longtime supporters of Youngstown State University, have created a scholarship endowment for students pursuing master’s degrees in business administration.
The scholarship is funded by a $150,000 donation from the Mrozeks to the YSU Foundation, the university’s fundraising arm. In recognition of the gift, the area outside the third-floor conference center in Williamson Hall will be named the Mrozek Family Reception Center. For information, visit ysufoundation.com.
