Q. Has “Whiskey Cavalier” been renewed for next year?

A. No. It was the last cancellation ABC made before announcing its schedule for next season, and recently installed network president Karey Burke said it was one of the toughest calls she had to make. The Scott Foley-Lauren Cohan spy saga started out with promise, even doing well with an Oscar-night “preview” that aired quite late on the East Coast, but its ratings then entered a continuing downward trend.

Filmed on location in Europe, “Whiskey Cavalier” was a costly series to make – and with that ratings history added in, the financials ultimately didn’t add up for ABC in terms of ordering a Season 2. After an outcry from fans on social media, the network said it would take a second look at the decision it made on the show, but it stuck with that in the end.

Q. Is it true that Adam Levine is leaving “The Voice?”

A. That’s the announcement the Maroon 5 frontman made, and NBC is taking him at his word. The singing contest’s upcoming season will be the first he’s been absent from since the show premiered, leaving Blake Shelton as the only continuing mentor and team captain who’s been there from the start. Levine actually was signed for next season and the one beyond, and his exit from those means his forsaking an estimated $30 million.

Levine still is in business with NBC as an executive producer of its current series “Songland,” and those behind “The Voice” made a point of saying that he always will be a part of that program’s “family.” In our habit of never saying “never,” we wouldn’t rule out that he might appear on “The Voice” again, though when and in what capacity would be mere speculation at this point.
