TCCS celebrates graduates

WARREN

Trumbull County Children Services recently hosted its annual graduation luncheon in the agency’s multi-purpose room at the Children’s Residential Center. Two graduates were honored from the following schools: Summit Academy and Chaney High School. Each year, TCCS recognizes the accomplishments of young men and women who graduate high school. Youth who enter the foster care system lose three to five months of education every time they change schools. According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, 58 percent of emancipated youth earn a high school degree by the age of 19. These graduates have experienced trauma, abuse and neglect. One of the graduates was awarded a full academic scholarship to his selected university. Special remarks were given by Andrea Mahone MA, chief executive officer at Just In Time Employment Agency. For information, call Children Services at 330-372-2010.

Live from Anywhere program planned

SALEM

Salem Public Library, 821 E. State St., will offer its next “Live from Anywhere” program series entitled “Conflicting Evidence: 24 Hours after the Kennedy Assassination” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The interactive online presentation will be generated from the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Texas. Film, photographic and documentary evidence found in the first 24 hours following President Kennedy’s assassination have been used to contradict other widely accepted reports of what occurred in Dallas on Nov. 22, 1963. Attendees will become history detectives as they examine primary source material collected following the incident. Program presenters will ask the library audience probing questions to prompt analysis of the evidence. This program is free and open to the public. Registration is required and may be done online at www.salem.lib.oh.us or call the library at 330-332-0042 for assistance.
