A new Eyemart Express store, located at 1301 Boardman Poland Road, hosted a grand opening event on May 4.

Store manager Lucy Enrich said that the store offered vouchers for a free pair of children’s glasses for the first 25 families to attend the event.

“Our mission, and Eyemart’s mission is to make sure that no matter what your budget is there is something there for everyone,” Enrich said. “People are always going to need to see.”

During the event, community members had access to a number of discounted frames and bundles on new glasses.

The store also offered giveaways and prizes to community members in attendance.

Enrich said that the new store is unique because they have an in home lab, which allows them to offer community members their glasses in less time.

“There aren’t too many places out there who have their own lab,” Enrich said. “We carry stock lenses and stuff here and if it is an absolute emergency we make sure they get a pair of glasses.”

Enrich said that while most glasses suppliers can take a week to two weeks to provide them, Eyemart can stream line that process to get the community glasses in an hour.

“It gets them in and out of here,” Enrich said. “We can usually whip something up in an hour or a day. For the most part 90 percent of glasses will be done today.”

Along with the quick service, Enrich said that Eyemart’s focus is to provide every family in need with glasses within their price range.

The store offers value packages that can be helpful to families in need, according to Enrich.

“It helps the community, you got to figure there are so many families in need,” Enrich said.

The store brought eight new jobs to the community, both on the sales floor and in the lab.

Eyemart is also connected with Clear Choice Eye Care right next door.

Though the companies are run separately, Enrich said that they work together to ensure customers who come in to get an eye exam can leave quickly with a new set of lenses.

“We want everyone to be able to see,” Enrich said. “It doesn’t matter, people are always going to need glasses.”

Eyemart has about 200 stores nationally in 36 states, according to Enrich.

The store offers both walk in services, or community members can make an appointment with the Clear Choice Eye Care.
