The new Ace Hardware hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony in Boardman on June 7.

Owners David and Cindy Coie, along with their two golden retrievers Maggie and Kensington, cut the ribbon officially opening the store to the public.

“We are just so grateful for the support we have already received,” David said. “Since our soft open we have had a ton of support from the community.”

This is the third Ace Hardware the Coies own, since David started working for the company in 1976.

“I started working at the store for the previous owner, and then purchased the store from him,” David said.

He said that working at Ace Hardware was only his second job, and that he loved it so much he stuck with it.

“I have a passion for the work, for the company, and for the people,” David said.

During the ribbon cutting ceremony, David paused the event to go assist a customer who needed help. Handing the leash of one of his dogs to Cindy, and the large scissors to one of his employees, he walked away from the group stating, “The customer always comes first.”

“That has been the motto since I started at the store before I was the owner, and it remains that,” David said.

Throughout the first weekend open the store hosted a number of give-a-ways.

The store also added 10 new jobs to the area, with the hopes of hiring more in the near future.

“We are still looking for a few full time and part time employees,” David said.

The store is located at 451 Boardman-Canfield Road in Boardman.
